Overview

ZEISS Loxia 2/50- Flexible and versatile.

Our compact standard focal length for Sony's full-size α7 series sensors. You will be seduced by the exceptional touch of precise manual focusing, offering all creative freedom in the palm of your hand.

A 50mm lens was the favorite focal point of the famous photographer Cartier Bresson. On a 35 mm camera, it corresponds to the visual field of the human eye and offers a very natural perspective. Compact, lightweight and extremely flexible, the ZEISS Loxia® 2/50 convinces in the most diverse fields of application. Be it street photography, landscapes, portraits or spontaneous discoveries, the ZEISS Loxia 2/50 is the faithful companion of photographic and filmic investigations.

ZEISS Loxia lenses have been developed specifically for Sony α7 series cameras. That means: you're holding in your hand the benefits of a modern, mirror-free, full-format camera combined with the creative possibilities of "classic" photography with manual focus.

In addition, ZEISS Loxia lenses offer everything necessary to record video in the highest quality - eg. the unique DeClick function for continuous adjustment of the diaphragm.

DeClick function

Loxia lenses feature an all-new feature that "clicks" the diaphragm snap mechanism by unlocking the locking screw on the bayonet surface using the tool provided. When making videos, the difference in brightness that occurs unexpectedly during the change of direction can be corrected continuously. This function can also be used with other video systems whose favorable dimensions allow an adaptation of these objectives.

Precise manual focus

Ordering a lens manually is like creating the image with your fingertips. Ergonomics plays a crucial role. ZEISS lenses offer a wide angle of rotation for precise sharpness adjustment. The changes appear immediately in the viewfinder. The high-end, play-free and easy-to-use focus mechanism lets you play intuitively with the level of sharpness. Accurate graduation in meters and feet as well as the depth-of-field scale is an additional aid in manual focusing.

Virtually distortion-free optics

Dramatic perspectives and a view from exceptional angles: ZEISS's objectives open up new creative possibilities. A distortion would hinder the composition because the straight lines, whose reproduction does not cross the center of the image, would be bent. Complex optical constructions correct this effect, which affects all focal lengths.

High-end metal frame

Perceptible quality and high durability enable ZEISS lenses to be used intensively for decades. The high-end metal finish frame, handy metal focus and diaphragm ring, rugged front bayonet and filter thread ensure an outstanding photographic experience. A special sealing ring on the bayonet protects the junction between the camera and the lens.

Extremely compatible

ZEISS Loxia lenses are suitable for use with Sony Alpha mirrorless E-mount cameras and have been optimized for full-size sensors up to 35mm (24mm x 36mm). With ZEISS Loxia lenses, the aperture is preset manually, enabling the DeClick function of the aperture ring. And as a result: the devices have the appropriate functions of automatic exposure control (A) and manual exposure control (M).
